GL II is under construction and there are about 7 floors so far. We
just got back from 4 weeks at Nuevo and watched GL II go from 5 floors
to 7 so they are hard at work day and night. Expected completion is
We were told that they are using outside contractors with a bonus to
them if the work is done early so they have more incentive to finish
quickly than the in-house construction company.

We went to the owners update a couple
weeks ago in Nuevo and asked how many Luxxe units had been sold and how
many were coming online for booking. Here's what we were told:
"There have been 3000 GL weeks sold and they expect the current
sales rate of 1500 weeks a year to continue. By November 2010 when GL
II-Nuevo is expected to open there will be about 5800 2-br GL weeks
available for occupancy."
Here's my own math:
There are 54 2-bedroom units in the new GL I building which just
soft-opened for occupancy yesterday (2/12/10). There are 6 units per
floor: 4 Villas and 2 Suites. That gives 2800 weeks/yr available now.
You can make reservations now for dates after 4/18/2010, the official
GL II looks on track to open 11/10 and assuming it is the same
configuration, it looks like it is, that will give another 2800 weeks
available. The two buildings total about 5600 weeks available for an
expected 4500 weeks sold by the end of the year.
The caveat in all this is the demand is much higher in the winter
months so I expect there will be some jockeying for reservations for a
few more years until they build more buildings. I heard RM is expected
to open for next winter but I don't know what month.

Linda and her
friends have just sent us interior photos of the Grand Luxxe I Tower. Needless to say,
they are terrific. Unfortunately, we have not posted them yet, but we
will do so later this evening. In the meantime, rest assured that the
Grand Luxxe Residence Club is ready and waiting for your enjoyment

Linda and her friends have just sent us interior photos of the Grand Luxxe I Tower. Needless to say, they are terrific. Unfortunately, we have not posted them yet, but we will do so later this evening. In the meantime, rest assured that the Grand Luxxe Residence Club is ready and waiting for your enjoyment.
Take a look at the Grand Luxxe Tower I photos Linda and her friends have contributed for our information:
Linda, who is in Nuevo Vallartasent current photos to Gary III, whom she asked to forward them on to us. She wanted to share her photos with us and did so through Gary. Thank you both for thinking of us and keeping us up to date.
Linda's photos show the Grand Luxxe pool at the beach. We have seen it expand from nothing but dirt in November to becoming an idea to becoming a pool to the finished product. Ron told us all that the pool is now full and ready to go.
Additionally, they also show lots of foliage in front of the Grand Luxxe I Tower throughout the other GL pools. Management is working very hard to make the area attractive in time for the January 29, 2010 deadline.
Seeing Linda's photos brings to mind how agile the Grupo Vidanta construction crew is. In July, John started us off with photos of a peninsula that extended straight from the Mayan Palace into the lake. It was low in the water and rose to a promenade at the end. John commented on how quickly workers built the peninsula (before his eyes) and planted the finished hill with foliage. It seemed like magic.
Well, you know what? The peninsula has taken a turn south. Workers uprooted the plants, carted them off, brought in more trucks and tractors, changed the direction of the peninsula to where it is now and replanted everything.
Scott's photos show how the lake area is now taking shape in ways we could not predict. There is a roadway along the western shore of the lake, which was a roadway for trucks in November.
Bottom line....for those of us who love to see things grow and change, the projects at the Nuevo Vallarta Mayan property are fun to watch. Also, it is gratifying to see the end result, which we are very happy with so far.
We are happy Linda has allowed us to share her photos with us and appreciate her time and energy to keep us up to date while she is on vacation. Thank you Linda.
Gary will be in Nuevo in May and will send his updates. Please do not feel shy. Also, please share your photos and comments from the other resorts as well.
Thank you Linda....
