I wasn't sure where to put this info so it
would do the most good, so I thought I'd let Bob and Mary Ann figure it
out. Feel free to break this up and place it where you wish.
We are in Nuevo Vallarta
at the Grand Luxxe (May 10 thru 17).
The service is very good to
excellent, and all of the help have been especially chosen for their
friendliness and personalities. Those that must come in daily contact
with the guests can generally speak and understand English pretty well.
The GL I building is
situated so the major axis of the building is almost exactly North and
South. This makes the "Ocean Side" to the West (these are odd numbered
rooms) and the "River Side" to the East (these are the even numbered
Ocean Side has a view of the Mayan Palace, Grand Mayan, Bliss Grounds
and pools, and over-looks the Bay of Banderes. You can see the lights
of Buceriass at night. The River Side has a wonderful view of the

on the Third floor and none of the construction of new buildings or
none of the trees hamper our view in any way. Neither GL 2 or GL 3 will
block the views from any of the rooms in GL 1.
Room numbers are four
digits ie "7648". The first digit is the building number (ie 7 for
Grand Luxxe 1). The second digit is the floor (6th in this case. Its
really the 7th floor in the American numbering since what we call the
first floor is called the lobby floor). The last two digits are the
The room keys are the magnetic "credit card" type, but you
don't have to put them in a slot, just wave them at the door knob.
The "Sun" store is the
local "Speedy Mart" type and has eggs, bacon, milk, cerial and most
things you might need at about the same price as Walmart. Alcohol and
wine is quite expensive though, so that should come from Walmart or
shops in town.
There are Trams to take you anywhere up and down the Mayan
property roads, but the city has said that they can no longer take you
to the Sea Garden or the city bus stop via city streets, since the trams
are not licensed vehicles.
All in all, the stay has been very pleasant.
During our email exchange, Gary expressed pleasure
with his unit and displeasure with the way the resort responded to his
requests and contractual obligations. It seems he placed a number of
requests for a high floor suite and received assurances that he would
receive the request he made....a number of times. When he signed in, he
did not receive the suite he expected. He registered his complaint and
it fell on deaf ears. The resort was full. and Gary assumed there
would be others who felt the same as he.
We do not know how
management allocates rooms. However, now that the Luxxe I Tower is
open, we are sure there will be those of us who are unhappy because we
do not get the room we expected to receive. Mary Ann and I experienced
that in November during our last trip to Nuevo.
We feel there
will be a period during which the allocation will be sorted out. After
all, there are only four Luxxe Villas and two Luxxe Suites on each floor
of the Luxxe I Tower. Nine floors and 54 two bedroom units. Pretty
One final note: Gary sent us photos of the
Luxxe III construction and new construction in the Nayar Town area.
Could be new Luxxe units or could be pads for the new stores in Nayar
Town. They appear below. Stay tuned.......
Thanks Gary....Great stuff!

Gary said "Hello" to everyone by sending in some photos he took during his vacation in October. The great thing about these photos is the extent of the improvement that took place between October 19, 2009 and November 19, 2009.
Note that in Gary's photos, the Infinity Pool in front of the Mayan Palace is dry. Also, the lake water level is very low.
We were taking a look at other photos we received earlier in the year. Interesting to see the changes.
Take a look at what Gary provided and make your comparison.
Thank you Gary....
